In Mainz, “MESA”, the first high-current ERL to be operated at a German university, is under construction in the Cluster of Excellence “PRISMA”. The research and training builds on these distinctions. For the first time, junior scientists from the fields of accelerator physics and electrical engineering work together on interdisciplinary PhD projects on the physics and technology of ERLs.
On the undergraduate side, we offer BA and BS degrees in physics and an ABET accredited engineering physics (EPS) degree, one of the first in the country. We also offer minors in both physics and astronomy. For graduate programs, we have masters programs in physics and engineering physics, and a doctoral program in physics.
