As of 2024, the LGM-30G (Version 3) is the only land-based ICBM in service in the United States and represents the land leg of the U.S. nuclear triad, along with the Trident II submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) and nuclear weapons carried by long-range strategic bombers.
At the time of the signature of the treaty, the United States declared four types of heavy bombers— B-52G, B-52H, B-1B, and B-2A. However, only the B-52H and B-2A can carry nuclear weapons. The B-1B has been converted to non-nuclear missions, so they no longer appear in the New START balance.
