   • What a great experience. This is a piece of history that once housed thousands of sailors that served this great nation of ours. We’ve done self guided and guided tours of the USS Wisconsin. The guided tour is definitely worth it as it opens up areas of the ship that you can’t get to on the self guided tours.

   How long is a guided tour of the SS Milwaukee?

   • The S.S. Milwaukee has a guided tour that starts at the top of every hour and ran about 45 minutes. It walks you through a good portion of the ship and gives you a bunch of history of the rail car crossings across Lake Michigan. You can actually stay aboard this ship and live like you're in the 1930's era. This isn't something that we did.

   • Milwaukee completed her acceptance trials prior to 1 November 2015 and was commissioned in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 21 November 2015. She had improved systems as well as mission modules compared to USS Freedom and USS Independence, the first two Littoral Combat Ships.

   Is there a cruise ship moored near Milwaukee?

   • This isn't something that we did. The Coast Guard ship Acacia which is moored next to the Milwaukee can be toured as well, however, it is a self guided tour and there are quite a few areas you can't go into, like the engine room or any of the state rooms, officer areas, bridge, etc.
