May 04, 2021 · Angels Landing Trail is Pretty Straightforward . All that being said you won’t have any issues going off-trail on the Angels Landing hike. The trail is very straightforward and easy to follow from beginning to end! Any wandering off the trail past Scout Lookout would end in you falling off a cliff.

Apr 26, 2021 · It is a steady, uphill climb on a wide, paved trail. After a steady, monotonous uphill slog, the trail enters Refrigerator Canyon, a cool, shady canyon. This is a good place to catch your breath and cool off, if you need to. This is the only shady part of the hike. West Rim Trail, the first section of the hike to Angels Landing.
Looking down the 21 wiggles. At Scouts Lookout, 2 miles from the trailhead, the Angels Landing route leaves the West Rim Trail (West Rim Trail continues to the north). There are excellent views of Zion Canyon from the Lookout. Privies are located at Scouts Landing. The rooms see a lot of use!
Mar 29, 2011 · This section of the trail reminded me of Angel’s Landing, another famous vertigo-inducing hike of this park, but not as challenging. Where Angel’s Landing has long stretches of thin ledges climbing a fin of rock with 1,000-foot drops off of both sides, this section of Hidden Valley Trail is just 200-300 feet long, about 2-3 feet wide, and just a 800 foot drop on one side.

You must endure a 1.5-mile, 1,650-ft. climb before you can sprawl over a boulder enjoying the view of the New River below. The well-worn trail leads into a spring-fed ravine and briefly along an old logging road before settling into a consistent, thrashing course of switchbacks.
