For Polanski The Fearless Vampire Killers was undying. In 1997 he directed a stage musical adaptation, finally entitled Dance of the Vampires, in Europe, which is still being revived. Unlikely to return is the misbegotten Broadway version, minus his input and with much more American meddling, which I saw in 2002.
