Vera West (28 June 1898 – 29 June 1947) was an American fashion designer and film costume designer. From 1928 to 1947, she was the chief costume designer for Universal Pictures.

Vera West was a costume and apparel designer, who had been living and working in Hollywood since the mid 1920s. Much of her career was at Universal Pictures; as Head Designer she created or supervised the costuming for more that 400 films made between 1928 and 1946.
Oct 30, 2018 · West did well in Hollywood and was named head costume designer at Universal in 1927. She provided the costumes for every female lead Universal’s golden era (The Mummy, The Invisible Man, and The Wolf Man, and all of their sequels!). West’s last film at Universal was in 1946.
