Warriors is a series of several books, organized into multiple arcs, featuring the adventures of feral cats living in self-supporting groups called Clans in the forest—ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan, and WindClan. Later, the fifth Clan, SkyClan, is introduced.

Squirrelpaw is a ThunderClan apprentice, and one of the daughters of Firestar, the Clan leader, and Sandstorm. She is mentored by Dustpelt and is stubborn and independent, often doing what she believes is right even if it is against her mentor's wishes.
