Jan 01, 2017 · An important piece of Art Nouveau architecture dating back to 1908-1911. Since 1945, it has been the seat of the Prague City Hall and Prague’s Mayor. The Grand Hall is the venue for Prague council meetings, seminars, conferences, and gala events. Exhibitions are occasionally held here.
The Old Town Hall was founded in 1338. The Old Town Hall (Staroměstská radnice) was founded in 1338. It is comprised of 5 individual houses which were gradually joined together into one building.The dominating feature of the Old Town Hall is its 69.5m high tower dating from the late 14th century, with an ornate oriel window, part of the chapel, on the eastern side.
The first public library in Prague was opened on the 1 st July 1891, being established by a decree of the municipal council as the Public Municipal Library of the Royal City of Prague. In the beginning, it had over 3000 books; its first address was in the building of the former St. Václav jail in the Na Zderaze Street.
