Aug 30, 2017 · by Billie Doux. While I love the two-parter "The Best of Both Worlds" a whole heck of a lot, "The Inner Light" is my favorite episode of The Next Generation. The story is relatively straightforward. The Enterprise encounters an alien probe that hits Captain Picard.
In the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “The Inner Light,” the U.S.S. Enterprise-D encounters an unusual space probe which emits an energy beam at Captain Picard, causing him to lose consciousness on the bridge.
In this episode, Captain Jean-Luc Picard ( Patrick Stewart) is struck unconscious by an energy beam from an alien probe. While minutes pass for the rest of the crew, the probe makes Picard experience 40 years of lifetime as Kamin, a humanoid scientist whose planet is threatened by the nova of its sun.
