Concealed pistol application kits are provided free of charge during normal business hours by county clerks, or found here (michigan.gov/firearms). Written information regarding the procedures involved in obtaining a concealed pistol license (CPL).
An applicant for a Michigan CPL must: Be at least 21 years of age. Be a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted into the United States. Be a legal resident of Michigan and reside in Michigan for at least six months immediately prior to application. An applicant is a resident of Michigan if one of the following applies:

Residents of the State of Michigan may apply for a purchase permit at any law enforcement agency in the state or at any firearms dealer. Exceptions are transactions between private citizens and purchases at gun shows. Permits must be obtained before these types of transactions can be completed.

Michigan CPL holders can renew their concealed pistol license online, in person, or by mail. To renew by mail, please submit a completed CPL application, along with a check or money order payable to the Michigan State Police, to the MSP CPL Unit, P.O. Box 30634, Lansing, Michigan 48909.
