And the beginnings of the project involved a get-together for a cup of coffee years ago at the Courtyard by Marriott on the outskirts of downtown Akron.

Mar 7, 2021 · Construction was still underway when the airdock welcomed two gigantic visitors on the same day. The USS Los Angeles, a rigid airship 658 feet long, 104 feet high and 90 feet in diameter, soared over Akron at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 28, 1929, on the way to the National Air Races in Cleveland. It was a warmup act for the headliner.
