     A List in java, is an ordered collection. I suppose you are a beginner and confused with syntax. If you have java decompiler, you can see that LinkedList and ArrayList are also classes. Which means somewhere some good person has done the coding for you and provided you a class which is similar to your "LinkedIntList" and provided you out of the box. You don't need to create a new class if java provides sufficient functionality for you.

     But sometimes, the out of the box classes are not sufficient for our requirements. In that case we have to write our own implementation of classes, such as your class "LinkedIntList".

     In this case, it seems you need size and one element hence you are creating it on your own.

     Interceptors are used to implement cross-cutting concerns, such as logging, auditing, and security, from the business logic.

     In Java EE 5, Interceptors were allowed only on EJBs. In Java EE 6, Interceptors became a new specification of its own, abstracted at a higher level so that it can be more generically applied to a broader set of specifications in the platform.

     They intercept invocations and life-cycle events on an associated target class. Basically, an interceptor is a class whose methods are invoked when business methods on a target class are invoked, life-cycle events such as methods that create/destroy the bean occur, or an EJB timeout method occurs. The CDI specification defines a type-safe mechanism for associating interceptors to beans using interceptor bindings.

     Java EE 7 also introduced a new @Transactional annotation in Java Transaction API. This allows you to have container-managed transactions outside an EJB. This annotation is defined as an interceptor binding and implemented by the Java EE runtime. A working sample of @Transactional is at:

     Generics allow you to customize a "generic" method or class to whatever type you're working with. For example, suppose you have a method that adds two numbers together. In order to work with the types themselves, you might have to create multiple versions of this method. For instance:

     Generics allow you to create a single method that is customized for the type that invokes it.

There are other implementations of the collections framework, like the fastutils framework that gives better performance if you knew the type you were going to use. Also Gnu Trove is another one similar to fastutils.

     A Mock object is something used for unit testing. If you have an object whose methods you want to test, and those methods depend on some other object, you create a mock of the dependency rather than an actual instance of that dependency. This allows you to test your object in isolation.

     Common Java frameworks for creating mock objects include JMock and EasyMock. They generally allow you to create mock objects whose behavior you can define, so you know exactly what to expect (as far as return values and side effects) when you call methods on the mock object.

     As an example, one common use case might be in an MVC application, where you have a DAO layer (data access objects) and a Controller that performs business logic. If you'd like to unit test the controller, and the controller has a dependency on a DAO, you can make a mock of the DAO that will return dummy objects to your controller.

     One thing thats important to note is that its usually the case that mock objects implement the same interface as the objects that they are mocking - this allows your code to deal with them via the interface type, as if they are instances of the real thing.
