One of them is undoubtedly Bertha Benz, the resolute partner of Carl Benz. She was born Bertha Ringer on 3 May 1849 in Pforzheim and married Carl Benz on 20 July 1872 at the age of 23.
Though Bertha Benz was not the inventor of the Motorwagen, she was an inv estor in its development. She had funded her husband’s business ventures before they were even married and continued to do so even after losing her legal rights as an investor upon her marriage.
