Her first novel Pao is a deeply autobiographical story set amongst the Chinese community of Jamaica and illuminates the little known story behind this community’s immigration to the Caribbean. The complex stratifications of race, culture and class which define Jamaican society and which the Chinese community embodies in their own particular way.
