- Get an Original Frozen Banana. Did you go to Balboa Island if you didn’t get a frozen banana or Balboa Bar? You’ll notice two shops almost right next to each other, Sugar ‘n Spice and Dad’s Donuts, that both claim to have invented the original Balboa Bar.
- Walk Down Marine Avenue. The bridge from mainland Newport Beach leads right into the shops on Marine Avenue. Marine Avenue is Balboa Island’s old-fashioned main street, lined with around 40 shops and restaurants.
