    • “I’m Bored!” How often have you heard that lately?! If you’re finding it a bit challenging to entertain kids all day during unexpected self-isolation or quarantine or lockdown, we’ve got some great ideas for you.
    • Toddlers (2 – 4 Years) 1. Make a Colorful ‘Skittles Rainbow’ (10 – 20 Minutes) — The Dad Lab has exploded in popularity and is great resource of things for kids to do when they’re bored.
    • Pre – K (4 – 5 Years) 20. Stage a Play (20 – 60 Minutes) — If your pre-K child is asking for fun things to when they’re bored, challenge them to ‘write’, rehearse, and stage a play for you as the audience.
    • Early School (6 – 8 Years) 39. Create with a Kiwi Crate (1 – Several Hours) — Despite the best of intentions, as parents, it’s hard to find the time to do STEM/STEAM projects with the kids.
    • Fold & fly paper airplanes. Practice making paper airplanes. Or take it up a notch and have a paper airplane flying contest.
    • Measure things in the house. Grab a tape measure and see how long or tall things are throughout the house. Kids can also use a ruler or a stack of medium-sized legos.
    • Play a card game. Play an old favorite, or learn how to play something new!
    • Stack cups. Grab a bunch of disposable plastic cups and make a tall tower. Or learn different ways of cup stacking.

    • Create a Bowling Alley. Get creative using items such as cups, toilet paper rolls, action figures, etc. to set up as pins to create a bowling alley in your hallway.
    • Lip Sync Battle. Battle it out with a lip sync competition and see who can do it best. Choose a song, give the person 10 minutes to practice and let them perform as the song plays.
    • Play a Video Game. Most kids probably already own a video game system. This can also cure boredom for some time. Nintendo Switch has a new game called Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
    • Play Bingo. If you don’t have a bingo card, no worries there are plenty of free printables online that you can print off or make your own. For markers you can use coin, goldfish crackers or chocolate chips.
    • Write a story. Put together story prompts for your child to choose from (in case their creative juices aren’t flowing). Stories ideas could include: A princess who is captured by an evil monster.
    • Make sidewalk pictures. Sidewalk chalk art is super fun (and your neighbors going on walks will enjoy the messages). During the quarantine when CoVid19 was rampant, I loved walking the neighborhoods and seeing all the inspirational messages kids had drawn on the sidewalk.
    • Paint kindness rocks. Again, one of my very favorite activities to do with kids. Please, grab our free kindness rocks challenge kit here, print it out, and get going.
    • Write a letter. Write a letter to a friend, parent, aunt, uncle or grandparent. Let your child write about absolutely anything that comes to mind. My partner’s son wrote a letter to his grandpa (who had made the statement that all he ever gets are bills) and this letter which suggested a family trip, spawned a family ski trip to Lake Louise.
