The persecution of Christians can be historically traced from the first century of the Christian era to the present day. Christian missionaries and converts to Christianity have both been targeted for persecution, sometimes to the point of being martyred for their faith, ever since the emergence of Christianity.
From the Muslim conquest of Egypt onwards, the Coptic Christians were persecuted by different Muslims regimes, such as the Umayyad Caliphate, Abbasid Caliphate, Fatimid Caliphate, Mamluk Sultanate, and Ottoman Empire; the persecution of Coptic Christians included closing and demolishing churches and forced conversion to Islam.

Overall, Orthodox Christians see plenty of common ground between their own faith and Catholicism. Islamic Oppression - Any violent or non-violent action used to bring Christians under Islamic rule. Religious Nationalism - Using the majority religion of a country (usually Hinduism and Buddhism, but also orthodox Judaism or other religions) to imply Christians do not qualify as citizens.
If you squint a bit, and use some dodgy definitions, then sure, you can conclude that Christians are the most persecuted. But you have to ignore the fact that while Christians may make up the largest numbers of the persecuted, they are not the most likely to be persecuted.
The Crusades may be one main reason why more Egyptian Christians converted to Islam. Nowadays about 10 % of Egyptians are Christians following different churches, mainly the Coptic Orthodox Church. Recent persecution. On April 9, which was Palm Sunday and the start of the Holy Week, two Egyptian Coptic churches became a target for terrorists.
In Toronto, Ontario, we are being persecuted by our own Government who seems to want Christianity to cease to exist, while, at the same time, they promote all other world religions and encourage everyone to practice their faith insisting that Christians accept it.
