Yeah, of course you can ask for a specific alcohol. In fact, I'd say more people do that than don't. If it's a full bar (as in they have lots of different bottles of stuff. Most bars are full bars) then the bartender should be able to make just about anything. If they dont know the specifics can just look it up.
