  1. Do the "what is reaper 6" series from Kenny Gioia, to get the philosophy of the tool (extremely important, especially if you have habits from another daw). Then do the "advanced reaper settings" video from ReaperBlog. Goes through almost all parameters that are worth questioning yourself. Eventually, use Reaper and learn on the go.

  2. Edit: I recommend trying Reaper for free to see if you like it. The trial version has no limitations except a brief popup on startup that says "this is a trial." You can take as much time as you need to consider whether you want to buy and continue working with it, or try another DAW.

  3. Not sure about the security and reliability in a live setting though unless you can secure an AP just for you/your band. And even then, EM interference. Unless the tablet can be wired to a LAN or direct to the REAPER computer with a crossover cable. Might want to look into LBX Stripper to keep it local and make custom GUIs.

When you first open Reaper after the initial setup, the image above is what you will see. By default, the top half is your track list, and this is where the visual representations of your audio tracks will be stored. This is also called a “timeline”. The timeline will be where all of your audio WAV recording files will be shown. In the middle, you ...

You will notice at the bottom, there is a new track slider added to...
