Basically, Professor Hulk would've probably happened naturally because Bruce had more control than usual, but he just sped up the process during the 5-year time jump in Endgame. This is most likely why Hulk seemed so weak against Thanos in infinity war, when really, he was nerfed BECAUSE the merge was starting to happen slowly.
Doesn’t matter that Hulk is World Breaker Hulk. He stalemated Sentry, but eventually his anger had gave out so he couldn’t stay angry enough to be in Hulk mode. Plus Thanos just has better abilities put together.
