     So I finally figured it out.

     The “infohash” is the SHA1 Hash over the part of a torrent file that includes:

     • ITEM: length(size) and path (path with filename)
     • Name: The name to search for
     • Piece length: The length(size) of a single piece
     • Pieces: SHA1 Hash of EVERY piece of this torrent
     • Private: flag for restricted access

     To show this a little more I took a random torrent file and used the “BEncode Editor” from Ultima to make it more clearly to me.

     As you can see the the red box marked the information part of the torrent file. The torrent file includes not the Hash of the items, but the hashes of every piece.

     • For item1 with: 1069496548
     • and item2 with: 223
     • It is together: 1069496771
     • With a piece size of: 524288
     • There are 2040 pieces. (1069496771/524288=2039.9032 approximately)
     • The pieces section includes 40800 byte of data what are 81600 + 2 chars in the file.
     • the +2 because 0x marks that this is hexadecimal.
     • A SHA1 hash has 40 0x chars or 20 Byte of data what are 2040 SHA1 hashes.

     I am sorry that this information is about a torrent that leads to a illegal movie, but i wanted to use a torrent that realy exists.

     A good rule of thumb would be in the range of 10% to 20% of system RAM. When your operation can't fit in the write cache, then caching isn't providing any performance boost, and meanwhile you're ruining performance of every operation that could have used cache because it all got evicted to make room for your data.

     There is a generic concept generally called a "handle" in the context of computer software APIs. In the comments you have probably found a link to the Wikipedia article on that subject.

     You are dealing with a specific implementation of a handle data type -- the IBM PC/DOS file handles returned from the int 0x21 interface. If you would like to learn more about these specific file handles, you might want to consult the book Undocumented DOS, which details the in-memory data structures which allow you to investigate these handles further.

     Another specific type of handle is the file descriptor returned from the POSIX-standard interface named open(). This function is implemented in the C run-time library on platforms such as Linux, Windows NT, Mac OS, and many other systems. The integer returned from a call to open() may not be a negative number.

     Unless you are running under DOS, your file handles are probably provided by the Windows NT Operating System. These file handles are returned from CreateFile() (which is used to open as well as create files), and the only illegal value for a handle returned from this function is INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE. I.e., the Windows NT API may return what would be considered (via casting) a "negative" integer, although it has opened the file.

     In all of these cases, the file handle is used to refer to some data structure that keeps track of how the file is open. One important thing which is tracked is the current file position. The position or pointer is set in POSIX by the lseek() function and is read by the tell() function. Any read() or write() takes place from the position of the current file pointer.

     Your program can open the same file under two different handles. In this case, the file pointer for each handle is distinct. Updating the file pointer of one handle using lseek() will not affect the file pointer of the other handle to the same file.

     • maven-application.xml is the just the application.xml file when building with maven
     • if you look at appengine-moudles-ear/pom.xml , you'll see a reference to maven-application.xml (basically telling maven to look for maven-application.xml instead of application.xml)
     • I guess this is answered by "2", but the convention is to use application.xml
     • They are not redundant. Due to some quirks with how maven and gradle handle exploding (unzipping/unarchiving) EAR containers, the included war directories have slightly different names. If you take a look a the application.xml it refers to wars by their names appengine-modules-guestbook , and if you look at maven-application.xml it refers to them as name-version.war appengine-modules-guestbook-1.0.war , it turns out they're both directories though, just named differently by the plugins.

     • The sample includes both gradle and maven build files, and these steps were necessary to get it working with both build systems at the same time. You can probably remove all the gradle stuff and just use maven when extending this sample (and rename the application.xml to something of your liking)
