Strep throat is an infectious illness. Its symptoms include a painful sore throat, fever and swollen glands. Strep throat is common, especially in children ages 5 to 15, but older teens and adults can get it also, especially if they live or work with children in crowded conditions. Strep is rare in babies and young children under age 3.
Dec 29, 2021 · Treatment. Rocky Mountain spotted fever is treated with one of the tetracycline drugs, usually doxycycline (sold as a generic), in adults and children over age 9. In general, tetracyclines should not be prescribed for pregnant women and children under the age of 9 because these antibiotics can permanently stain the teeth.
Treatment. Upon suspicion of Rocky Mountain spotted fever, treatment should begin immediately. Delay of treatment has been associated with fatal outcomes. Treatment with tetracycline or chloramphenicol antibiotics can be used to treat RMSF. Doxycycline (a tetrycycline) antibiotic is the treatment of choice for both adults and children.
