And wrestling with this problem we have two responses: Existentialism and Absurdism. In this episode we are going to explore what Nihilism is and how these two schools of thought have attempted to manage the crisis it represents.
1. Origins of the Name. It is a matter of some dispute just who coined the term ‘existentialism’, but it is agreed that it was first used in the early 1940s to label the works of Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, and other Parisian writers who were focused at the time on the nature of human existence.
