   Feb 15, 2016 · The 226 was designed before ZDDP (the common zinc/phosphorus anti-scuff compound) was invented. Every Jeep L4-134 that "won" WWII did so without zinc/phosphorus in it's oil as well. I've used Rotella 15w40 for over 30 years now with no ill side effects. The owners manual specified 10w30 for most conditions.
