Feb 21, 2011 · And yes i know that towing a 7.3 on an engine stand isn't a smart idea, but if we go that route it will get reinforced and probably have some blocks shoved between the oil pan and stand, and a strap thrown around it to hold it in place. So i guess i just answered my own question, i'll be getting the HF stand and most likely bracing it. :lookaround:

  3. Oct 26, 2010 · As a Brit now living in the USA I was perplexed that I wasn't able to buy a small commercial vehicle with a 2-2.5 liter Diesel engine which will deliver 45-50 MPG for light duty. My previous vehicle was a Ford Escort (Car derived van) with a 1.8 Liter IDI that gave me 44 MPG.

Harbor Freight has stands that hold a complete 460 just fine for very cheap $$$, I have not seen the crank type though, They have 3 or more types, the larger ones are better, I have 3 in my shop and have been using them for about 8 years, worked great.

    • Ford F-150 3.3L V6 (Base Engine) This is a naturally-aspirated dual fuel injection engine that serves duty as the base engine for the 2019 Ford F-150 half-ton truck.
    • 2.7L EcoBoost V6. This is a second generation EcoBoost engine with dual injection (port & direct). It does have two turbochargers to produce a rating of 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
    • 5.0L Coyote V8. This is currently the only V8 engine in the F-150 lineup. It also has a dual injection system (port & direct). The rating is 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
    • 3.5L EcoBoost V6. This is 2.7L V6’s bigger brother. It uses a similar second generation design with dual fuel injection, but the power rating is higher. The engine is rated at 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.

I used a 1000 pound rated Harbor Freight engine stand to rebuild mine, it was a little shakey but held no problem, I did have to elongate the slots in the plate to get it to spread out enough to match the 7.3 bolt pattern. That 1500 pound you found looks much better that mine.
