4 days ago · The Army settled on a 230 grain bullet in 1906. There was ammo loaded in a longer case at Frankford Arsenal. After a lot of shuffling around at UMC and WRA they ended up with a 230 at the 1905 .45 Rimless Smokeless length. The 200 grain bullet was long gone by the time guns clearly predecessors to the 1911 came out in 1909 and 1910.

Same configuration, same feel, and all very familiar. A 2011 also retains the wonderful, smooth 1911 sliding trigger design. But you can’t use a 1911 trigger in a 2011.
