In an urban environment you still want to use JHP ammo, but which one is the most reliable depends on your individual pistol. Try to find one with a rounded, FMJ-like bullet ogive for a start.

You want a carry gun to just run without having to worry about what it will feed and bullshit like whether the mag has a dimple on the follower or only running a couple bullets. Id also change all the springs and go to a 17lb flatwire kit from Wilson.

If you’re looking at a pretty faithful reproduction of the first generation of 1911s…you can’t go wrong with Rock Island. The midsize is the original “commander” size. Or if you just really want a 1911 but don’t have a lot of cash…the GI is a great place to start.
