Oct 15, 2010 · I would suggest sticking with the type of oil that came in the truck, the important part to an oil filter change on a Ford is that the Oil Filter only be replaced with a Motorcraft or Ford Racing oil filter. Reason being: the vast majority of your "aftermarket" (ie Fram, Duralast, etc.) do not have a check valve.

  5. Feb 3, 2014 · Re: Which oil is best? Anything synthetic and stick to what Ford recommends. I got a 99' Ranger with a 3.0 in it with over 280k miles on it. All I have done is put a clutch in it and head gaskets. Always have ran Syn oil and changed every 4k miles.

  6. Oct 2, 2018 · Thicker/heavier oils take longer being pushed through oil galleries and thus take longer to apply pressure to the tensioner. Timing chain rattle on start-up really changes quite a bit after changing oil weight. It also changes a lot based on the mileage your oil currently has due to viscosity breakdown. GB _____

  7. Jan 31, 2011 · Step 1: Remove bolt from oil pan and let oil drain out. Step 2: Remove oil filter. These pics show where the oil filter is located. Step 3: Remove cap to where you put the oil into the block. Step 4: Put drain bolt back into the oil pan but make sure you clean it off first. Step 5: Put new oil filter into place.
