The Nubian languages ( Arabic: لُغَات نُوبِيّة, romanized : lughāt nūbiyyah) are a group of related languages spoken by the Nubians. In the past, Nubian languages were spoken throughout much of Sudan, but as a result of Arabization they are today mostly limited to the Nile Valley between Aswan (southern Egypt) and Al Dabbah.

Modern Nubians speak Nubian languages, Eastern Sudanic languages that is part of the Nilo-Saharan family. The Old Nubian language is attested from the 8th century, and is the oldest recorded language of Africa outside of the Afroasiatic family. Dec 6, 2023 · An inscription in Meroitic cursive script is carved on the lower part of the stela. Meroitic was the indigenous language of the Kingdom of Kush. It is one of the few ancient languages yet to be deciphered. The alphabet consisted of 15 consonants, four vowels and four syllabic characters but the meaning of the words is not known.
Kenzi was traditionally located at the northern limit in Egyptian Nubia near Aswan. Andáandi was located at the southern limit in Sudanese Nubia upstream from the 3rd cataract. Nubian languages are also spoken to the west of the Nile, especially Ajang in the Northern Nuba Mountains and Midob (Tiddin Aal in northern Darfur).
