2 days ago · The Georgia State University School of Music recognizes that many musicians today have career aspirations beyond performance, including music management, promotion, arts administration and similar fields. Nevertheless, as a NASM-accredited institution, the School of Music requires every music major to engage in active music making at some level.
The GT School of Music focuses on music technology instead of music performance. Our curriculum combines traditional music courses with courses in engineering, math, and science. Though music technology students must take at least 4 ensemble courses and 4 courses of music theory, there are no private, individual music lessons.
Undergraduate Programs. To enroll in music major coursework, students must initially be accepted to both the University of Georgia and the Hugh Hodgson School of Music (two separate admissions processes). The University primarily evaluates academic achievement, and the School of Music evaluates musical ability through the audition process.
