May 9, 2024 · The idea for the movie sparked when Dalessandro read about brown tree snakes invading World War II airplanes. Initially, the screenplay was about a single snake on a plane and was titled ‘Venom.’ But after watching James Cameron’s Aliens, Dalessandro added more snakes to the script, escalating the drama.

David Dalessandro, the associate vice chancellor of university development at the University of Pittsburgh, wrote a screenplay called Venom after reading a 1992 magazine article about Indonesian brown tree snakes climbing onto planes during World War II.
