Watch Scorsese use a song in a movie and that’s how it’s done. Obviously some people like the soundtrack- so I may be in the minority. But in a movie like almost famous (which I love), all the rock tracks work because that’s a movie about music. This eerie movie Vanilla sky- the choices just didn’t work for me personally.
