Jogaila's personal life was not particularly happy. He married again at the behest of the Polish nobles, but his second wife, Anna, was unattractive, and Jogaila refused to live with her. She, too, died after bearing a daughter, and Jogaila, to intense local criticism, married a woman named Elizabeth Pilecua whom he chose himself.
