Bowers Mansion. The Mansion is now open for weekend & holiday tours through the end of October! We are also open Fridays from June 14th through August 9th. Tours are on the hour from 11am to 3pm. The mansion was built in 1863 by Bowers and husband Lemuel “Sandy” Bowers for about $250,000, which would be about $6 million in today’s dollars. They owned 160 acres at the time, which went out to Washoe Lake.
