Early life. Edith was the youngest of four children, having been born into a German Jewish family in Aachen, Germany. Edith Frank attended the evangelical Viktoriaschule in Aachen, where education in the Jewish religion was given by Dr Heinrich Jaulus. [1] According to Otto Frank, Edith grew up in a family with a kosher household, but the family was not Orthodox. [2]
Edith Frank ( née Holländer; 16 January 1900 – 6 January 1945) was the mother of Holocaust diarist Anne Frank, and her older sister Margot. After the family were discovered in hiding in Amsterdam during the Nazi occupation, she was transported to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
