Oct 10, 2023 · ROCKFORD — Judge John Lowry has been reappointed to serve as chief judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court for an additional two-year term. The decision was made by a unanimous vote of the eleven circuit judges. The new term runs from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025.
Lowry is the Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court, a position to which he was selected in 2022. He also served as Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court Division. Lowry began his judicial career as an associate judge for the court. He received a B.A. from Marquette University in 1981.
