The 74th Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia, and took place at Venice Lido from August 30th to September 9th, 2017. The Festival is officially recognised by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).

The Palazzo del Cinema, inaugurated on 10 August 1937 for the fifth edition of the Exhibition was then made up of a simple hall and a thousand-seat cinema hall (the present Great Hall).
The New Palazzo del Cinema of Venice is a big-scale “device” for performances, entertainment and research on moving images and visual arts. An architecture that develops around a metamorphic space: the structure of the large hall (2,400 spectators) can turn into a public square thanks to the vertical movement of the ceiling.
