During the reign of King Henry II, the wooden structure was replaced by a fortified stone castle. I can’t imagine a castle not made of stone.
Warwick Castle is probably better associated with the period before the Tudors -- The Wars of the Roses -- because of Richard Neville "The Kingmaker". But the Earldom of Warwick eventually came into the Dudley family during the Tudor period and was held by Ambrose Dudley , son of John Duke of Northumberland and brother of Robert Earl of Leicester .
