He was educated at Harrow, without much distinguishing success, and then proceeded to the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst for officer training.
He was buried in Bladon churchyard beside his parents and within sight of his birthplace, Blenheim Palace. In the autumn of 1908 Churchill, then a rising Liberal politician, married Clementine Hozier, granddaughter of the 10th Earl of Airlie.
