Jun 15, 2012 · Ian’s father taught Primary 7 at Greenock Academy until 1951. Ian was a pupil there from 1946 till 1959 (in the Nelson Street building) in both primary and secondary departments. He was Head Boy of the school in session 1958-59.
Jan 4, 2020 · Ian spent most of his life in and around Greenock Academy. His father taught Primary Seven there and Ian himself was a pupil all the way from Primary One to sixth year, when he was head boy.

Former depute rector Ian McCrorie had realised it was half a century since the opening of the Madeira Street building, the ‘new’ school, and suggested an event be held to observe the date.
