Apr 15, 2022 · This is the story of Walter Payton. Early Life. Walter Jerry Payton was born on July 25, 1954 (some sources have his birth year as 1953) in Columbia, Mississippi. He was the youngest of three children and, initially, Payton wasn’t overly enthusiastic about sports, although he did play Little League baseball.
