[9] [10] Built around the River Avon, it is bordered by the ceremonial counties of Gloucestershire to the north and Somerset to the south.
Bristol is located in the county of Bristol, South West England, four miles south of the town of Filton, 25 miles east of Cardiff, and 107 miles west of London. Bristol lies roughly one mile north-east of the Somerset border, and was historically in the county of Gloucestershire.
