The setting for the TV series is the Washington DC area, but NCIS is filmed in southern California, on sets and on location. Many shooting locations are recognizable to observant viewers....
Jul 9, 2017 · It appears, just by looking at the map, NCIS: Los Angeles loves to shoot scenes downtown and around Venice Beach a lot. Obviously those two areas have some of Los Angeles best views around, including tall buildings, palm trees and amazing ocean views.

Aug 9, 2023 · Los Angeles, California. While the majority of the show is set in and around Washington, D.C., some episodes of NCIS were also filmed in Los Angeles, California. The production crew often took advantage of the city's diverse landscapes and iconic landmarks to add a unique touch to certain storylines.
While much of the show is filmed on location, the NCIS headquarters are filmed on soundstages 8 and 9 at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood. Directly outside the soundstage is the set of the entrance to the building. We often see Sam Hanna parking his car here and going into the building. Paramount offers tours to the public, which I highly recommend.
