U.S. Route 84 ( US 84) is an east–west [a] United States Numbered Highway that started as a short Georgia – Alabama route in the original 1926 scheme. Later, in 1941, it had been extended all the way to Colorado. The highway's eastern terminus is a short distance east of Midway, Georgia, at an Interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95).
In the event of a road closure between exits 48 and 40, traffic will be detoured to US ‐ 19 and I ‐ 64 to bypass the closure. For a southbound closure, I ‐ 77 motorists will be directed to take the North Beckley Exit, and proceed north on US ‐ 19 to the intersection with WV ‐ 16/US ‐ 19.
