Oct 26, 2019 · The higher you climb, you’ll be rewarded with exceptional views of Oberammergau and the Kofel. At 1,542 meters (5,059 feet), the Aufacker is higher than the Kofel, too. The Aufacker isn’t as high as the Laber, and it doesn’t have a distinctive shape like the Kofel. Nevertheless, it’s still a lovely mountain to hike in Oberammergau.

Mar 3, 2008 · The Alps have a much more rapid increase in elevation but not as high as the Rockies. One of my favorite differences is the of mountain lakes where suddenly a vast mountain emerges in the Alps. In the Rockies there is always a slower decent. The snow season is shorter in the Alps than in the Rockies.
- Mauna Kea. The dormant volcano Mauna Kea in Hawaii is one of several known peaks that are arguably taller than Everest—as long as you're willing to award the title of “tallest” based on a technicality.
- Olympus Mons. If Mauna Kea is only taller than Everest because of a technicality, then maybe Olympus Mons has a better claim to the title.
