Pajanimals, originally a Henson co-production with 4KIDS Entertainment, premiered on November 2, 2008, in the US (on PBS Kids Sprout). The series originally consisted of ten three-minute segments that aired on a rotating basis. The shorts were designed to help comfort preschool viewers with bedtime themes and transitional issues such as separating from mom at the end of the day, healthy routines, sleeping through the night and being comfortable with the lights out. In 2011, an order for new episodes in a half-hour time slot expanded the series to two eleven-minute segments, for a total of 26 broadcast episodes. The episodes debuted in October 2011. Henson and Sprout now co-produced the show with Sixteen South Limited in Northern Ireland.Since the premiere of these episodes, the original shorts have not aired. The series aired on Nick Jr.in its co-producing country, the United Kingdom. The full series focused on issues of more general concern to a young audience, such as nervousness...

The program's theme song features the Pajanimals and Mom singing about the fact that they are "ready for beddy-bye". Each character is introduced as the song shows them getting ready for bed. The theme song did not air as part of the original shorts, but a modified version, sung only by the mother, is included in the series. The series features a number of new songs, including "I'm Your Light in the Night Sky" by The Moon, and in some cases repurposed versions of the ones from the original shorts, customized to fit the themes of the series.

Mom (Claire) has the sniffles and there is a lot of things to do, so Nancy offers herself to do them while she rests. Jojo, meanwhile, wants to play pirate, and since Nancy was busy cleaning, JoJo goes to look for her mom -who just went upstairs to rest, being stopped by Nancy who starts to play with her aiming to avoid Jojo to bother their mom. Because of this, Nancy has to clean and play with Jojo simultaneously (that's fancy for "doing more than one thing at a time".) She prepares a sandwich to JoJo, folds towels, and tries to wash the dishes. But it went wrong, and the dishwasher started to make a lot of bubbles that filled the kitchen. Nancy, desperate, goes for her mom, but after seeing her sleeping, she decides to go downstairs and clean the mess that the bubbles caused. Luckily for her, her dad arrives home and helps her to clean it. Then, he explains to her that the dishwasher only needs a tiny portion of soap, and asks her to don't use it without their help. Finally, Clair...

Charlie's mom is a sweet and timid woman who is attracted to cruel men like Frank or Luther. ("Dennis Looks Like a Registered Sex Offender") However, she is not attracted to Dennis. ("Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom") Quite neurotic and emotional, she is prone to dramatic episodes. ("Charlie Got Molested") She seems to harbor many irrational fears: she won't let Mrs. Mac bring her dog when she moves in because she is afraid dogs will "eat her face", and she says she doesn't go to the supermarket because "shopping carts are dangerous." She also has an extreme form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She has to flip light switches three times and spin or else she believes Charlie will die. ("Mac's Mom Burns Her House Down") Her brother Jack Kelly is implied to be a pedophile who would sneak into Charlie's room as a kid. Jack rents a room from Bonnie as of Season 5 but by Season 6 he has moved out and Mrs. Mac moves in as Bonnie's roommate. ("Mac's Mom Burns Her House Down") Presumably Bonnie a...

Bonnie was born in 1949. She had a one-night stand with Frank Reynolds 30 years prior to Season 2, possibly making him Charlie's biological father. Frank insisted she abort the baby, which she did. But the abortion didn't "take", and Charlie was born three months later. ("The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby") When Charlie was a child, men dressed up as Santa would present him with a gift(rarely of which were toys), then go upstairs to "cheer" his mother up, as Charlie puts it. This convinced Mac that Charlie's mom was a prostitute. ("A Very Sunny Christmas")

    Season One

When Dennis and Dee assume Charlie was molested by a gym teacher, they tell Mrs. Kelly, who breaks down in hysterics. She helps them hold an intervention for Charlie, complete with a doll where she instructed Charlie to point where he was hurt. Since he wasn't actually molested, he had to pretend so the McPoyle brothers didn't get angered. ("Charlie Got Molested")

    Season Two

To get back at Charlie, Dennis attempts to bang Mrs. Kelly, but she rejects him because she says she is not attracted to him. ("Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom") Frank tells Charlie that he is going on a date with someone he had a one-night stand with about 30 years previously. The date turns out to be with Mrs. Kelly, and since the date would have taken place around the time he was conceived, Charlie comes to the conclusion that Frank must be his biological father. ("Dennis and Dee Get a New Dad")

    Season Three

Charlie continues to try to figure out if Frank is his father. Frank tells him he took Bonnie to get an abortion after she told him she was pregnant, but later Mrs. Kelly tells Charlie that while that's true, he survived the abortion. ("The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby") Mrs. Kelly later reconnected with Frank, enjoying his harsh treatment and becoming his "bang-maid," but she quickly transferred her affections to the luring Luther McDonald after meeting him at a dinner party thrown by Charlie...

Season Four: "Mac and Charlie Die (Part 2)"
Along with the Waitress and Artemis, Mrs. Kelly is the only recurring character who has appeared in the first six seasons of the show in a row.
There is some evidence that Mrs. Kelly was a prostitute, at least during the Christmas special.
She learned from her son how to simulate cancer to get what you want. ("Charlie's Mom Has Cancer")
In "Charlie's Mom Has Cancer" on her save Bonnie from cancer poster boards that Bonnie was born in 1949.
