Presumably because the creators wanted a catchy name for their card game, rather than ‘Bears, Eagles, Sharks and Various Other Deadly Creatures vs Babies’. That would never have fitted on the box. I’m slightly relieved to discover this is a card game, and not, say, the next Pixar movie.

Sep 25, 2017 · In Bears vs. Babies, players build up armies of monsters, exquisite corpse style, to fight armies of babies. That's about it. That's about it. It's simple, but it's supposed to be.
Bears are built; they come in the form of heads, torsos, arms and legs. The player can connect the cards where they fit to form an army of creatures in front of them. Babies are played immediately into the center of the table. They form a baby army, which must be stopped by the player's bearlike creatures.
