Apr 23, 2018 · Dr. Gangrene's Mad Blog: Movie Review – The Odds, 2018. I got a chance to check out a new independent horror film this weekend called The Odds. It’s a 2018 film, feature-length, made by Uproar Pictures, written and directed by Bob Giordano. The story revolves around two main characters, a woman and a man whose names we never learn.
As is the beginning of a horror-flick by showing the main character running around frantically being scared out of her wits by some deadly pursuer, as a preview of what we later in the movie will get to see. I guess that's summing this movie up: a too long and tedious, bad acted cliché.
The bravery of the main character is perhaps only overshadowed by the bravery of those helping him escape the Nazis hunting him. The scenery is breathtaking and you can feel the cold which is the greater enemy in this tale of survival against innumerable odds.
Unless you already know the main characters making up the various Chicago mobs of the 1920's and 30's you will most likely not understand this movie. It is mostly a collection of well-known incidents (the St. Valentines Day Massacre for example) and extreme violence along with standard "mobster meets dance joint showgirl" interludes.
All Saints (2017) is a terrific movie about hope and faith, but it's more about how God shows up in ways we don't expect. Even when one believes that he has received a clear calling and is obedient to it, one has to leave the results to Him.

Jul 07, 2017 · There are also points when the characters are interacting in the outside world and you wonder if that, too, is an acting class exercise (the movie has fun toying with our perceptions, particularly in a scene that looks as if it's about to turn into a male-male pickup on a busy street).
