May 5, 2023 · 8. Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877-1933) Sigfrid Karg-Elert was one of the most famous composers in the early twentieth century, best known for his compositions for pipe organ and reed organ. In 1882, his family finally settled in Leipzig. There Siegfried received his first musical training and private piano instruction.
Sweelinck was strongly influenced by this style.
