Professor L. Petrie is the main character of The Phantom of the Opera (1962). Loosely based on Erik (The Phantom), this Phantom shares similarities with the Lon Chaney rendition as well as the Claude Rains rendition. He died after saving Christine Charles by pushing her out of the way of the falling chandelier, letting it hit him instead.
